My name is SGT Luis Montillas. I have been with the Connecticut Army National Guard for 12 years. I am presently deployed in Afghanistan and I am scheduled to return from my 3rd deployment (once Iraq, twice Afghanistan) early fall. My family, two children 9, 16, and wife have supported me throughout the 12 years of service and multiple deployments, but this deployment has been the hardest for them. My son who is 9 has been affected by it the most. It has been hard for him to video chat with me over the last year, because it makes him sad that I am away and can not do the things we normally do together. I would love to be able to take my family on a vacation to Florida and visit Universal Studios for 5 days, during the kids winter or spring break in 2021. This would mean the world to my family as they have always wanted to visit Universal Studios, and most importantly to my son who is a huge Transformer and Jurassic Park fan. With the pandemic, and my 12 month deployment in 2020, looking forward to Universal in 2021 was the light at the end of the tunnel that my family used to keep their spirits up. My family and I had a great time during our Family Vacation to Universal Studios. We were able to go to Universal every day during our 5 day trip allowing us to enjoy everything Universal had to offer. It was a great experience for my family, and it gave us memories that will last a lifetime. Once again I want to thank everyone involved in making My Hero's Wish happen, without your support this amazing experience would have never happen.
